The New Moon in Virgo: "Back to the Future!"

We are on the cusp of a New Moon in VIRGO (August 30th). Now I am not an expert in these matters but someone who attended a recent Prosperity Circle in LA told me that the New Moon (New beginnings) was a day or two away. So I went on a little search to find out what it all meant.

Well, as it turns out, I have been feeling the energy of this New Moon -- and didn't even realize it.

A New Moon in Virgo is a time of acting from 'common sense' -- a time to be practical and truthful to self - a time to be detail-oriented, a time to focus with clarity and purpose -- and shed what is no longer part of our path. Shed old ways, old habits, anything that we have thought necessary from a place of lack or fear. In fact, I have been feeling this for months now - since Pluto went retrograde - Pluto - the planet of the underworld. It has felt like an emotional tsunami at times. The old was being forced to go. It could no longer stay. Period. If I pushed for it to stay, I would be thrown backwards. Literally. I have been recovering for months from an injury to my back that was a journey in gratitude, release of old grief and self-judgment, healing of family relationships, a return to truth and to what I am here for and who I really am. Like the film of the same name, it was my own personal 'Back to The Future'. Because this healing journey that was seemingly against me, determined to set me back...was actually a journey in freedom (as Howard Wills always says) - a journey to be free of what actually was holding me back...in order to leap with joy into my future.

Now that I see, I am so grateful! As difficult and excruciatingly painful as it was - and it was, oh Lord! - I welcome it and thank God for it. It has and is opening me to the next phase of my life.

What will the New Moon portend for you? What is it releasing? What is it bringing into your life? I think it is a time of magic...no matter what.

On Being True To Your Own Heart......

“Your work needs to be independent of others' work
You must not compare yourself to others
No one can help you but yourself
Criticism leads to misunderstandings
Work from necessity and your compulsion to it
Work on what you know and what you love
Don't observe yourself too closely, just let it happen
Don't let yourself be controlled
Live in love and the activity of your work
Be free of thoughts of sin and guilt
Be touched by the anxiety of life
Be patient with the unresolved in your heart
Try to be in love with the questions themselves
Be gentle to those who stay behind
Your inner self is worth your entire concentration
Allow your art to make extraordinary demands on you
Bear your sadness with greater trust than your joy
Do not persecute yourself
It's good to love, because love is difficult
You are not a prisoner of anything or anyone.” - Rilke

GET ON WITH IT, CHILD! MAKE THE SWITCH TO JOY!

"Get on with it, child," whispered a grandmotherly voice, this morning.
"Get to work. You have days of giving to give, things to do only you can do."

Then I open a file on my desk and this piece of paper falls out with notes I typed for myself on July 14, 2007. I guess I wasn't ready to 'hear' them 'til now.

"Getting on with it: What we do is what we want. What we do - habitually - tells us what we are really attached to. Or addicted to. It may be a feeling of anger, frustration, defeat, resentment, guilt. Whatever it is, it is a myth about what nourishes and supports us. Whatever it is, it is the way we have made things happen in our lives. Making the switch to joy requires different thoughts and actions....Pull out the old by the roots and get on with it!"

" THE RECEIVING PRAYER"

"I trust that I am ready to receive all the radiance and bounty and love that is gracing my life now. I accept that I deserve it with ease and grace. I trust that I am worthy of receiving it and enjoying it. I receive it with gratitude, care, grace, appreciation, integrity, honor, and humility. I am in receipt of what I love because I have called for it and I have opened myself to receive it. I enjoy, savor, love, and share what I have and what I am receiving. I inspire others with my ability to receive and give lavishly, opulently and joyously. I am held in the arms of God and can trust that God is with me at all times, guiding my path, coaxing me to open and receive more. It is God's joy when we open and receive what we love. I recognize and accept every little gift that comes with joy and gratitude. I am in the flow of receiving and sharing at all times. My life is a blessing, thank you God! "

"RELEASE AND RECEIVE PRAYER"

“ I am committed to having what I love, and have prepared my heart, mind, and life by releasing and letting go what no longer serves, what I have outgrown – people, places, situations, circumstances, old ways of being, feeling, speaking and acting that no longer reflect the new I am calling in. I thank God for all that has come before, all that is being released from my life now, knowing it has been perfect and has served my higher growth. Thank you God for all that has been. Thank you God for this gentle and Grace-filled release. I forgive myself and all others. I forgive daily as I create my new life in every moment. I am open to receiving the new. I am clear, peaceful, relaxed as I contemplate the new I am calling in. I am GRATEFUL for all the good I am receiving. My heart is open. I breathe deeply and receive. Thank you, God. Thank you, God. Thank you, God!”

On Love......

The eloquence of Daphne Rose Kingma often takes my breath away.....

Here is a quote from her little book of essays on Love:

"Love....to stand in the presence of sorrow, to witness
the unbearable so it can be borne."

The Great Law of The Iroquois...

The Great Law of The Iroquois recognizes our interconnection, interdependence and the responsibility one generation has to the other.

"In our every deliberation, we must consider the impact our decisions make on the next 7 generations."

"Trust Thyself....." Ralph Waldo Emerson

"Trust thyself: every heart vibrates to that iron string. Accept the place the Divine Providence has found for you, the society of your contemporaries, the connection of events. Great men have always done so, and confided themselves childlike to the genius of their age, betraying their perception that the absolutely trustworthy was seated at their heart, working through their hands, predominating in all their being." Ralph Waldo Emerson

Amen!

"Compassion means justice" Meister Eckhart

"All traditions talk about compassion in their own way. This is why Buddha came, why Jesus came, why Moses came, why Black Elk came, why Chief Seattle came. Compassion is a rare commodity and we have sentimentalized it. We've misunderstood it. As Meister Eckhart says, " Compassion means justice." Compassion is about working from our common humanity and making equality happen. Compassion is about being a spiritual warrior. What we have to do as a species, and as individuals today, will require strong hearts. We have turned warriorhood over to the Pentagon and the military and then the rest of us watch television.

So, we need to move from "couch-potato-itis" to being prophets. We all need to be part of the energy of the warrior.
What the warrior does that the soldier doesn't do is inner work. We need to work on ourselves and not just the enemy outside. That takes us back to the theme of spiritual discipline and meditation. Being a warrior means keeping the heart centered and clear and knowing what the real issues are. It means opening up the doors of creativity so that we can contribute the best of what we have." Matthew Fox, from an interview with Science of Mind magazine, August 2000.

"Imagine it's 30 years from now...."

I love this:

"Imagine it's 30 years from now. You're looking back at the history of your relationship with desire. There was a certain watershed moment when you clearly saw that some of your desires were mediocre, inferior, and wasteful, while others were pure, righteous, and invigorating. Beginning then, you made it a life goal to purge the former and cultivate the latter. Thereafter, you occasionally wandered down dead ends trying to gratify yearnings that weren't worthy of you, but usually you wielded your passions with discrimination, dedicating them to serve the highest and most interesting good." Rob Brezny.
