On Cupcakes, Oneness and ' a New Heaven of the Human Spirit'!

"No pessimist ever discovered the secrets of the stars, or sailed to an unchartered land,
or opened a new heaven to the human spirit."
- Helen Keller

A friend of mine, Karen Silver, was in L.A. visiting her brother. On their way out of a restaurant one night after dinner, they spotted a homeless man sitting on the curb. Karen nudged her brother to give the man their take-away box of still-warm pizza. This wasn't familiar territory for her brother but, what the heck, he followed his sister's lead and gave the man the pizza. The homeless man looked up with sheer delight and gratitude and happily received the pizza. The man's expression of sincere gratitude took Karen's brother by surprise. He had never realized that a gesture so small could make that much of a difference.

Moments later, getting into their car in the parking lot, a woman approached Karen carrying a stack of boxes. She told Karen that they had just had a big party and that they had an overflow of cupcakes. She asked Karen if she could give her one of the large boxes of cupcakes. At first Karen hesitated then realized she had a potluck party to go to the next night and she could take them with her. She said yes and happily received a big sealed box of 24 of the most delicious iced cupcakes from a famous cupcake maker in L.A.

I love this story. It illustrates the heart of Oneness. And how much sweeter life gets when you live and give and receive this way.
